Joe made his big stage bow in UFC 61, replacing his injured teammate Roger Huerta at the last minute. With less than a week to prepare, Joe made an impressive showing before submitting to Hermes Franca's triangle choke early in the third round. Many were impressed with Joe's performance, including Dana White who said that the UFC will see Joe again.

Joe continues to train with the Miletich Elite and looks forward to his next chance to step in to the UFC's Octagon, which will come soon.
